CREATES and Mélanzé are launching AgroVoices, a short film contest about the agricultural, food, social and environmental changes in two territories of Senegal: Mbour and Lower Casamance (Bignona, Ziguinchor, Oussouye). The contest is organised in partnership with the members of the PRATAM action-research network: CIRAD, INRAE, UASZ and ISRA.

The call for projects is open from 6 to 26 October 2026 on agrovoices.creates.ngo (in French).

How to apply

Applicants present a film project in a video of 2 minutes at most. The video must include at least 30 seconds of footage filmed on the subject: the places, the people, the gestures. A phone is enough, and applicants can speak in the language of their choice: Wolof, Diola, Serer, Mandinka, Pulaar, French or another.

People can apply from anywhere, but the film must be about one of the two territories. The website suggests topics for each, such as the city spreading over farmland around Mbour, or the salt rising in the rice fields of Lower Casamance.

After the preselection

  • At the end of October, the jury selects ten projects, five per territory.
  • The teams take part in two days of workshops on 4 and 5 November, then shoot their film in November. Each team receives 120,000 CFA francs to make a 3 to 5 minute film, due on 29 November.
  • The public votes online from 30 November to 9 December.
  • The films are screened and the prizes awarded at a final event in Dakar in December.

There is a jury prize for each territory and an audience prize for the whole contest. The prizes are equipment kits, not money. The authors keep the ownership of their films.

The contest is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (AgroVoices project) and the Liechtenstein Development Service (Bey Diiwaan project).
