Bey Diiwaan project launch
CREATES is proud to announce the official launch of the Bey Diiwaan — Cultivating Territories project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
This ambitious project aims to strengthen sustainable food systems in Senegal by scaling agroecological approaches across three regions: Petite Côte (Mbour department), Saloum, and Casamance (Bignona department).
Main objectives
The project is built around five pillars:
- Analyze territorial food system dynamics
- Co-design and test agroecological innovations with local communities
- Strengthen inclusive governance of natural and food resources
- Document local knowledge and indigenous agroecological practices
- Connect producers, markets, and consumers for food sovereignty
Partners
The project brings together a consortium of research and civil society partners: University of Bern, CIRAD, IPAR, Enda Pronat, and the DyTAES network.
The first field activities will begin at the Thiafoura living lab in April 2025.
